About Norway Downtown

In 2002, Norway Downtown was designated  by the Governor of Maine as a Maine Main Street Community. Currently, Norway Downtown is a Maine Main Street Affiliate led by a complete volunteer force under an agreement with the Maine Downtown Center, a program of the Maine Development Foundation.

 

The agreement commits Norway Downtown to follow the Main Street Four-Point Approach to revitalization (Organization, Design, Promotions and Economic Growth) established by the National Main Street Center and promoted by the Maine Downtown Center.

 

On-going Norway Downtown goals are to pursue economic development, business growth, job creation, housing revitalization, historic preservation, and cultural enhancement. Norway Downtown works closely with the Town of Norway and looks for support and guidance in pursuing those goals needed for our downtown's integrity and growth.

  

The Norway Downtown Board of Directors is represented by downtown business entities, community organizations and institutions and local government and is committed to on-going training provided by the Maine Downtown Center. Strong committee work is essential for productive advancement of goals and activities contributing to the vitality and health of downtown Norway.
